I woke up this morning to the sound of rain on the roof – one of my most favourite sounds in the world – rain always makes me feel calm and blessed.
I had to make an early run and as I got into the car I started running through my to do list in my head, totally oblivious to what was happening around me. As I was about to go up the hill just beside our house I glanced to my right and what I saw took my breath away.
In the still, quiet morning with the air crisp and cool, everything appeared so vivid and clean. For me, this sunrise was an unexpected reminder of the importance of being present in the now – not rehashing the past or thinking/worrying about the future but being fully conscious of the moment that I am in. It was also a reminder that God is with me always – the Bible says closer than my very breath.
From one moment to the next I felt completely transformed. I stopped the car, no longer concerned about time or lists and felt the concerns of the day just melt away as I watched the sun come up enjoying the cool breeze on my face and smelling the freshly fallen rain. It made me feel joyful and reminded me of my connection to something much larger than myself.
I am always grateful when God sends me a personal message at the perfect time when I need it. Needless to say I had an amazing day and I didn’t check my to do list once.
How does He send you messages?

He certainly does.
